American actor Michael Jace, who is best known for his role as an officer on the FX television series "The Shield," has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his wife was found shot to death at their Los Angeles home, police said on Tuesday. The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. local time on Monday when shots rang out at a residence in the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue in south Los Angeles.
Police officers, along with personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department, responded and pronounced 40-year-old April Jace deceased at the scene. An LAPD spokesperson said the victim`s husband, 51-year-old actor Michael Jace, was detained during the course of the investigation and transported to a nearby police station for questioning. Jace was later booked on a charge of murder at 77th Area Jail and his bail was set at $1 million. "At this moment the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence," the police spokesperson said without elaborating. Authorities said the actor had called 911 himself to report that his wife had been shot, but neighbors who heard the sound of gunshots coming from the home had also called police. Two children who were also in the home at the time of the shooting were not injured and handed over to the Department of Children and Family Services. Jace was best known for playing the role of LAPD Officer Julien Lowe on the acclaimed television series "The Shield," which aired on TV channel FX between March 2002 and November 2008. The series portrays the story of a Los Angeles police precinct where cops cross the line between good and bad every day.
